Patrick O’Shaughnessy, PhD, CIH

Patrick joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 1997 where he is a Professor in the department of Occupational and Environmental Health. He serves the department as the Associate Head for Student Affairs and Curriculum. Dr. O’Shaughnessy obtained licensure as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) in 2008 and is a Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. He is the Director of the NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center, the Heartland Center for Occupational Safety and Health. Dr. O’Shaughnessy is a recognized scholar in the field of aerosol physics applied to occupational and environmental health concerns, and in support of inhalation toxicology research devoted to pulmonary responses resulting from aerosol exposures.
